Theme: The apostles’ teaching on prayer in church life: The early church fathers viewed prayer as vital as breathing. We can learn of this importance by seeing how they prayed and what they prayed for.
Colossians 4:2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;
Romans 12:12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;
Ephesians 6:18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
1 Timothy 2:1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,
1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
Father, we ask for focus on Your will and Your Kingdom in persistent and constant prayer. We thank You for our redemption and rejoice in the hope You give us, as we face tribulations while waiting for Jesus' return. We ask You to lead us in compassion for the lost, to understand the depths of their pain, as we pray for their salvation. We ask for guidance into a watchful pursuit of holiness, as members of Your Kingdom, waiting and rejoicing in Your fellowship, amen.
