Read: Philippians 1
Big Idea: The Apostle Paul explains that his physical life on earth is for the Lord Jesus. He was the only reason to live – but also the very best reason to live. Therefore, something better awaited Paul. He said “to die is gain.” How many live fearing that their own death would be a loss? Furthermore, Paul noted that he struggled inwardly with life on earth versus life in the next world. He called the next life “far better.” This must become the perspective of every Christian: to live is Christ, to die is far better because then we shall be with Him! He has promised.
Key Verse(s):
Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 2:22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell.
Philippians 2:23 For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.
