Read: Colossians 4
Big Idea: Often the Scriptures will give us simple, old-fashioned good advice for daily living. To represent the Lord Jesus accurately and with love, we must consider our actions toward and reputations with “those who are outside.” It matters to God what kind of witness we have to a lost and watching world. Time is fleeting. It is a diminishing resource. We redeem the time when we show the love and kindness of Jesus not only to Christians but also to unbelievers. Paul tells the Colossian church that it matters how we speak. What language is on our lips? Is it coarse and full of swearing? Or is it gracious, seasoned with salt?
Key Verse(s):
Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.
Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
