Read: 1 Thessalonians 5
Big Idea: In the local church there will always be varying degrees of spiritual maturity. Being sanctified by the Holy Spirit is a process and it is progressive. To teach us how to love one another, God makes sure there are always three categories of people in the church to whom we are responsible and accountable: (a) the unruly (b) the fainthearted (c) the weak. We walk in the love of our Father when we warn, when we comfort, and when we uphold. To make sure no one is prideful and lazy about this, the Lord gives us a “catch-all” instruction to “be patient with all.” Everyone in the church including you, falls into one of those four groups!
Key Verse(s):
1 Thessalonians 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.
1 Thessalonians 5:15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.
1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice always,
1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray without ceasing,
1 Thessalonians 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
